Lobbying; a word often avoided since some people have been unethical. I also avoid the ‘ L ’ word and use Public Affairs instead. Funny really; lobbying is of all ages and everybody engages in it.

Let me give you some examples: A TV commercial drew my attention. In it a female customer wanted some extra attention from a guy working in the chemists department. She tied a bottle of wine to his bicycle, cheered him on at his football match and even had an airplane with a banner, in his name, fly over. This customer hoped for a “personal” treatment in the shop but as it turns out, the chemist already treats every customer like a king. Another example of lobby ? How about a baby crying for attention!

A true lobby initiative is defined by solid research, a clear message and honest persuasion. You can’t lobby that smoking is healthy, however, you can lobby from another point of view, for example: “people want to smoke”, what now? How do we control the damage…….

If you do not speak you will not be heard, my clients like the National Federation Historic Aviation and the European Federation Historic Aviation, know this all too well!
